Ductboard

Ductboard

Ductboard  is a composite product manufactured from rigid, high-density glasswool or fibreglass faced with aluminium or other material.  It is often used as an alternative to galvanised ducting as it is much lighter and easier to install.  Ductwork is rectangular with butt edge or factory moulded male-female connections.  Components are joined with a glue, seal and tape process.

It provides a more sustainable option for HVAC ducting with in-built insulation properties for thermal, acoustic and condensation control.  Additionally airstream surfaces are sometimes treated with an anti-microbial agent that prevents growth of mould, fungus or bacteria.

Ductboard is commonly cut with trailing knives or router bits.  The software accommodates both of these options and in fact parts can be cut with a mixture of the two.

It should be noted that in order to cut with trailing knives your machine must have a ‘C’ axis.
